Adult Therapy
When working with adults, I explore family history in order to understand how one’s family-of-origin shapes one’s perceptions. Clients are taught to recognize their automatic beliefs (or assumptions) and they encouraged to consider alternate possibilities. They are taught to look for patterns in their behavior or their relationships that may be undermining their abilities to achieve their goals. I support clients’ efforts to identify their own goals and helps them recognize how their behavior or emotional reactions may be “getting in their own way.”
